Junior Students

From Foundation through to Grade 2, students in the Junior Unit engage in ‘Investigations’ as part of the Walker Learning approach. This is a rich interactive environment with strategically designed stations linked to students’ interests and curriculum topics. Alongside the curriculum, the students participate in the Resilience Project and Zones of Regulation which aligns with our schools Positive Learning Behaviours.

Buddy Program

At the beginning of the year the Foundation students are paired up with a Middle Unit student. Each fortnight the buddies complete learning activities. Activities include Maths, Writing, Reading, drawing and Resilience Project tasks. All students love the time spent with their buddies and are able to form relationships in the classroom as well as in the yard.

Excursions

The Junior Unit participate in different excursions and incursions across the year. This gives the students the opportunity to develop their knowledge on a range of topics and have memorable experiences.
